Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is a disorder characterized by excessive sweating that occurs in up to 1% of the population. The excessive sweating can occur in the hands (palmar hyperhidrosis), in the armpits (axillary hyperhidrosis), or in the feet (plantar hyperhidrosis).

The initial treatment for hyperhidrosis is usually medical and does not involve surgery. A newer treatment for hyperhidrosis is when a small amount of BOTOX® (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is placed into the armpits or palms, it stops those areas from getting clammy and sweaty.

Rosacea

Rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition typically occurring in adults over the age of 30. It is characterized by redness on the face that can turn into bumps and acne. In some cases, blood vessels may be visible below the surface of the skin. Rosacea can also appear on the neck, chest, scalp or ears, though the face is most common.

When left untreated, rosacea can cause thickening of the skin resulting in enlargement of the area. This is often seen with rosacea on or around the nose. Eye irritation and dry, red eyes may also occur. In rare cases, the effects of rosacea can cause permanent damage including thickening of facial skin and vision loss.

Effectively treating rosacea requires developing a treatment plan specific to each patient and should be chosen by a physician. Dr. Green offers personalized rosacea treatments at his practice in Rockville, Maryland. Please call our office to schedule your consultation.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis

Over seven million men and women in the U.S. of all ages have some form of psoriasis, which may be mild, moderate or severe. Psoriasis cannot be cured, but it can be treated successfully, sometimes for months or years at a time and occasionally even permanently. Treatment depends on the type, severity and location of psoriasis; the patient’s age, medical history and lifestyle; and the effect the disease has on the patient’s general mental health.

At Aesthetics, SkinCare & Dermasurgery, we utilize all of the most advanced treatments available. These include topical medications, XTRAC laser therapy, narrow band UVB, and biologic and oral agents. Dr. Green also has a close professional relationship with the National Psoriasis Foundation.

Mole Check

Mole Evaluation/Removal

Moles and other birthmarks are benign pigmented spots or patches of skin that range in color from tan, brown and black (moles) to red or pink. Though most moles are normal, they may develop into abnormal moles or even melanoma cancer. Any mole exhibiting change in diameter, color or shape should be evaluated as soon as possible. If necessary, Dr. Green can remove any mole that bothers you or shows signs of being abnormal or cancerous.

Skin Cancer

Skin Cancer Evaluation/Removal

Skin cancer refers to the abnormal, uncontrolled growth of skin cells. The most common skin cancers are basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. A rarer but more dangerous skin cancer is melanoma, the leading cause of death from skin disease.

Skin cancers vary in shape, color, size and texture. Early intervention is essential to prevent skin cancer from spreading. As a fellow of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (www.asds.net), Dr. Green specializes in advanced skin surgical techniques. He routinely removes these dangerous growths while trying to achieve the most optimal cosmetic outcome.
